Libraries in Melbourne

Melbourne has some great libraries where you can study and find books to help you study.

The library at RMIT is available for all RMIT Training students. You can find it in Building 10, Level 5 (enter through Swanston St). You can borrow books from the RMIT Library once you have your student card.

The State Library is located in the city opposite RMIT University. You can’t borrow books here but you can make use of the quiet space and free Wi-Fi.

The City of Melbourne has several great public libraries that you can visit.

The City Library is located in Flinders Lane, near Degraves Street (try a coffee from one of the local cafes!). You can borrow books here once you have a library card. It is open until 6pm Monday to Friday and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Library at the Dock is the latest addition to the City of Melbourne’s library services.

To borrow books from the library you will need to register for a library card using your photo ID and something that lists your address (like an electricity bill).
