This is the final week of the First 30 Days program.

This week, we list our top 10 tips for success in your studies.

  1. Ask questions: Teachers and support staff are here to help you. Go to Level 3 for help or ask your teacher. When you ask questions, you get answers, so don’t be shy.
  2. Be brave: Sitting in our comfort zone is easy. When we take a chance, and do something new, amazing things can happen.
  3. Explore Melbourne: Discover some of the hidden treasures that live down the many laneways in Melbourne. Talk to the Student Experience Team to find out what’s on in this great city.
  4. Meet new people: They might be other students at school, or locals at a football match. Your social networks are super important to help you make the most of your time here. Join one of our student activities to make new friends.
  5. Organise your study time: Don’t leave things until the last minute, and remember, if you’re having trouble with your studies, speak to the Study Success Team.
  6. Stay active and healthy: Eat lots of fresh food and do 30 minutes of exercise a day. Get a bike to explore Melbourne.
  7. Volunteer: Gain some new skills, meet new people and do something truly meaningful. You won’t regret it.
  8. Manage your money: If it’s your first time living away from home, managing budgets can be tricky. The Student Wellbeing Team can give you useful tips for making sure you’re not awake all night worrying about paying the rent.
  9. Be patient and open minded: Settling in to a new country can take time. It’s important to stay open minded, to create new experiences and be positive.
  10. Know when to get help: If you’re feeling down, you are not alone. Make an appointment to see the Student Wellbeing Team if you are not coping.
